Overview

Visual Statistics Display (VSD) version 5.0 is a new version of the VSD product. This release has been recompiled with updated libraries, and including several bug fixes.

This version of VSD, like previous versions, supports statmonitor files generated from:

Supported Platforms

Platforms for Version 5.0

VSD version 5.0 is supported on the following platforms:

  • Windows 7, Windows 2008 R2, and Windows 8
  • Solaris 10 and 11 on SPARC
  • Solaris 10 on x86
  • AIX 6.1, TL1, SP1, and AIX 7.1
  • Red Hat Linux ES 6.1, 6.4 and 6.5; Ubuntu 12.04; and SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 Service Pack 3, on x86
  • Mac OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), with Darwin 10.8.0 kernel, on x86

Changes in this Release

New libraries

VSD has been recomplied with updated libraries.

  • TK is updated from 8.4 to 8.6
  • TCL is updated from 8.4 to 8.6
  • BLT 2.4 has been replaced by Refactored BLT Components

New Windows application icon

The appliction icon (in the Windows Taskbar and in File Explorer as well as in the application) now display a new VSD-specific icon:

VSD help no longer includes statistics information

VSD provides online usage help. The list of topics included each statistic, which made non-statistic help difficult to find. Since statistics help is provided via a separate dialog, the statititics are no longer listed with help topics.

vsdsh removed from distribution on Windows

vshsh and vsdsh.exe are a headless form of VSD; this is no longer distributed with the Windows version.

Bugs Fixed

Chart time format "Elapsed Time in Seconds" broken

Charts support time format as elapsed seconds as well as absolute timestamps. The menu item to switch to this mode was not functional. (#45187)

-u command line not working

This command line option, which is designed to turn on auto-update, did not work correctly. (#45211)
